Welcome to Bridges Academy

PictureCarl Sabatino
Head of School
Bridges Academy is unlike any other school, independent, charter or public. Our promise – in just a word or two – is to use our strength-based program to unlock human potential. And the potential of our students is high. We educate a unique population of students with learning differences who are amazingly bright, outside-the box-thinkers, capable of developing expertise at a very young age in any number of fields, from robotics to religion, string theory to Sanskrit, politics to poetry.

Our faculty, staff, and administration are flexible, understanding, caring and completely devoted to the social, emotional intellectual, academic and creative growth of our “twice-exceptional” students. Experts in their fields of study and in teaching and learning, our faculty are creative in their approaches. The only thing we are dogmatic about is flexibility, responding to the multiplicity of needs and hopes of each individual student.

We know that to be educated is not simply ticking off a list of required college prep courses. It a highly integrated personalized journey and process involving learning about ourselves; of individual and collective experiences in and outside of the school; and of acquisition of facts and a deep comprehension of critical concepts. Most importantly, the process of education requires commitment to an ongoing application of ourselves to personal development and meaningful achievements.

Getting to know and understand Bridges Academy, our unique philosophy, student body and faculty is a process in itself, one well worth undertaking.

Parents, professionals, policy makers, researchers and all those interested in learning about strength-based learning in cognitively diverse environments are welcome to visit. Come see how we are different.

Carl Sabatino
Head of School

"We don't create programs based on the diagnosis. We develop programs for the students themselves."
