Bridges Academy Boarding Program
Bridges Academy is a one-of-a-kind independent school serving twice-exceptional (2e) students: students who are gifted/highly gifted but also have learning disabilities or differences. In February of 2011, Bridges purchased its Studio City, California campus, its home since 2005. The 3.5-acre site comprises four buildings, including a beautiful 60-room dormitory that was built in 1988 and upgraded in 1994. Further remodeling will take place in the spring and summer of 2014.
Over the years, Bridges Academy has enrolled students who commute more than two hours each way to and from school every day. Additionally, we have routinely had families frequently move to the Los Angeles area so that their children may attend Bridges. Bridges is now considering establishing a boarding program that would provide a dorm living experience. Day students wishing to experience a boarding environment as part of their preparation for college life would also be welcome. Our current plans (subject to change) envision taking in our first group of boarding students (grades 8 - 12) in August of 2014 for the 2014-2015 school year. Decisions about boarding options and costs, and details about the program, admission requirements and procedures, will be available during the summer of 2013.
During our planning process, we welcome input from students, parents, educators, placement specialists, and all those interested in creating special opportunities for twice-exceptional students. Please feel free to share your ideas. Emails may be sent to boarding@bridges.edu. To share your thoughts in person, or for a general visit, call our Admissions Director, Doug Lenzini, at (818) 506-1091.
We look forward to creating a dynamic boarding experience. Twice-exceptional students deserve a high-level, personalized, and specialized education and the opportunity to develop independence, confidence, and life skills in a community of true peers and friends among which they can thrive.
